This is it

The post you've all been waiting for! Very quickly, this morning was a little jittery. We couldn't eat or rest. So we wandered around the mall connected to our hotel- ha! Weve got some classic pictures from there but will show them later. Finally after there was nothing else to waste time with, we decided to watch our church Easter service online and pray (yes I know we should have done this first and the rest if our time wouldn't have been so jittery!) but the time was amazing. God calmed our every fear and we were so peaceful and ready to go! So David, our guide, picked us up- along with another family traveling with us and off we went! For a 30 minute car ride.
We got to the civil affairs office and some kids were already there waiting in the lobby. David looked and it was Mamie!!!! And another little girl from her orphanage, the same age... We had no clue there was another family adopting from there! Well it was kind of like Christmas, where you don't want to peek until its all set? So David and the other family took our cameras and video cameras in and we went straight to the couch to see her. She was fine for a minute, but then started wailing! I was a little weepy myself but then before I knew it, her nanny picked her up and whisked her outside. What?! See, it wasn't really time for us to take her. Apparently we all had to be in a room upstairs where the officials hand them off to each family one by one, to make sure each family has the correct child. So we watched her nanny playing outside with her for a bit, then got herded into the room. Thankfully we were the first family to get our child - so then she was ours! And more tears ensued. She was pretty good off and on though. And by the time we got in the car to return to the hotel, she was sound asleep. And slept the whole ride.
The rest of the afternoon was really pretty great! She only wants me to hold her while I'm standing. Which was fine for a while- but folks- her measurements weren't lying- she is BIG. Not chunky but TALL and solid. Really, who has a tall Chinese daughter?! US!! We love it! However i think all of her clothes will be too small. To think i have a few 12 month things?! She was really quiet of course and wouldn't really eat. But she is taking it all in. And she clung to me like glue. All very good! But Charles? Yeah, she's not so into him at the moment. But she did let him touch her arm some. Hey- every little bit is good!
Our guide took us to Walmart to get her formula and rice cereal. Then we picked up a pizza and came back to the hotel. By 7:00 she was sound asleep on top of me in bed. Where she is still laying- only I was able to squeeze out. Praying the sleep continues through the night??!! Hey I can dream, right! So now to the good stuff. Without further ado, I introduce to you Mamie Joy Zhuo Kown:

The picture of you in the hotel room brought flashbacks. :) Please tell David that we all say hello (especially Caroline). He'll remember her as Yuan LiYun. oh, and tell him to take you to that coffee place that's around the corner from Walmart and the hotel. Best coffee ever. :)So thankful Mamie is finally in your arms!!
