Procrastination

So right now I should be making 4000 sausage balls. Not really 4000. But enough for a party tonight plus to freeze some to have Christmas morning. I'm also supposed to be writing my autobiography for our next homestudy. I told this to a friend today and she said "oh that's so cool. to really think about your life like that." I laughed. Cool. Really? I love having a grand old time talking with friends, going deep, etc... But writing, about my own life. Nope, not cool. Then I read her the 7 "cool" questions that are each about 10 questions wrapped into one, and she laughed. Agreed. Not cool. But I will prevail! I work best under pressure. Like studying for a test or reading a book the night before it's due. I will get this done. Just not before 3:00 pm today. I could also be folding laundry. But I did enough of that yesterday for an entire week. So I'm not too disturbed if the sheets and towels are wrinkled. They can wait. At least they aren't sitting mildewed in my washer. Just wrinkly in my dryer.
On another note, we went to the McWane Center this morning with the rest of Birmingham. That's probably why I'm now procrastinating. I just want to be online reading blogs, having "adult" interaction, ha! But we actually had a great time. It's so nice that Maxwell is now old enough to run around and play without me following his every move. Which is good, because I SERIOUSLY have to follow Elliott's EVERY move! Charles and I are talking all the time now about what great ages the boys are. We are constantly laughing at Elliott, age almost 2, because he's just really cute and funny. Then we love Maxwell's age, 4, because he is just really growing up! This is the first Christmas ever that will actually be "easy" with kids and we are so excited! No morning naps, no bottles, everyone can eat everything and play like crazy...
Did I really just write this entire monologue of rambling? Yep. Maybe I am in the writing mood, and should get crackin' on question #4. Or roll out some sausage balls. Or maybe I'll just go watch Dino Dan with Maxwell.

How Is Christmas Almost Here?

Seriously, wasn't Thanksgiving yesterday? We haven't even seen Santa yet! Or made it to see all of the trains at the McWane Center. It makes my heart race just thinking about it. Oh, and not to mention I haven't wrapped ONE gift yet! (Although I have bought all of my gifts). Oh and my blog is still a Thanksgiving design.

But let me tell you what we have done. Our first home study. Check. Wrapped up both of our small groups at church. Check. Had the most amazing weekend at our LIFE retreat where we watched God do more than we could ask or imagine. Check. So i guess that makes our Christmas so far pretty awesome. We may not have done the "typical" Christmas stuff yet, but we have certainly been reminded of what this season is all about. God is so good. Which alleviates my almost panic attack. And Maxwell got to take the Polar Express to the North Pole in school last week, which was pretty much the cutest and most "Christmasy" thing ever.

Now it's time for us to write our autobiographies for homestudy #2. I don't mind writing too much, however it's tough for Charles to even write a thank you note. Hmmmm... should be interesting. So thanks in advance for the prayers. Now I'm off to wrap a few gifts which I'm certian Elliott will have unwrapped by lunch tomorrow. And those gifts will be under our tree, chosen by Maxwell, that is almost dead already. I will post pictures to prove soon. Merry Christmas to All!

1 Little, 2 Little, ...

Happy Thanksgiving! I'm pretty sure our Thanksgiving lasted about 3 weeks. Kicking it off at Maxwell's school with the Feast of turkey and goldfish. Then moving right along to my side of the family. After fun times of playing in the leaves, we attempted a group shot. Not so successful. However, you will see we actually had much success the second time around! Pretty impressive huh?

We then moved on to Nashville and Charles' side of the family. Maxwell and Elliott are currently the only 2 grandchildren so you can imagine the attention ;) Well this year was no different. Welcome to the authentic Indian outfits and headdresses from Oklahoma (Jill you could probably find these somewhere...) So I introduce you to our 2 little Indians. (and if I hadn't already ordered Christmas cards, pretty sure one of these would be our picture):

Here We Are

Well it's about time for this blog to begin. And mostly this is for me to remember our life at this point, as my mind is pretty full.I can barely remember to take my boys to a birthday party, much less all of the details of our life. This will somehow become our life journal I'm sure.
What to expect from this blog: Fun family updates, pretty cute pictures, adoption updates (which I know is why most of you are here anyways), and maybe a good book or 2 to read (since that's my only hobby i love). What not to expect: Craft projects, recipes, money saving tips on grocery shopping (that would be my sister's blog) or how the cute pictures were taken and with which camera lens (I have no clue), or anything else you might find on some crafty mom site. So welcome, have fun and an enjoy!

And yes, I'll go on and get to adoption update number 1 which is pretty minimal to most, but big for us... we turned in our application to adopt a little girl from China on last Tuesday, November 16th. Let the roller coaster begin... Can't wait to see how God unfolds this journey to bringing our little girl home!
